OAKLAND, Calif.,March 28, 2013 /3BL Media/ - Fair Trade USA, a nonprofit organization and the leading third-party certifier of Fair Trade products in North America, today launched a new initiative to help small-scale farmers fight the devastating outbreak of coffee leaf rust in Central America. Experts believe the outbreak could decrease coffee production in the region by 30 to 50 percent over the next two years.

Union Pacific Railroad's Latino Employee Network (LEN) Houston chapter recently contributed toiletries and donations to the Casa Juan Diego shelter for families living at the facility.

Union Pacific employees helped address the organization's pressing need for personal care items, collecting hundreds of toiletries as well as a $500 cash donation.

GE donates $1.5 million to Mill River Park

GE Asset Management donated over $1 million for the building of the centre of Mill River Park in Stamford Connecticut. Since 2003, the Mill River Collaborative has been spearheading a $60 million rejuvenation to create a 28-acre recreational and green space in the heart of the downtown. The objective is to open the park to the public by the end of 2012 and so far, the nonprofit agency has raised more than $4 million from corporations, foundations and individuals. GE has also been a significant contributor to the city's public school system, donating more than $25 million over the past seven years.
