Energy provider works with General Motors to promote Smart Charging
JACKSON, Mich., September 26, 2018 /3BL Media/ – Consumers Energy yesterday announced plans to provide more electric vehicles for its employees -- a major step toward a clean energy future for Michigan.
Consumers Energy President and CEO Patti Poppe said yesterday morning that the company is now buying or leasing electric vehicles instead of purchasing new sedans that rely on gasoline. Poppe and an official from General Motors also announced the start of a pilot program to test smart charging for electric vehicle owners.
Volkswagen believes continued legislative support is needed to reach the next level of electric vehicle adoption.

General Motors and BMW AG reached an important milestone in ensuring electric vehicle customers have faster and more charging options.
Following several days of joint testing, GM and BMW AG engineers are confident that DC “Combo” Fast Charge stations from several suppliers will consistently allow an electric vehicle to take on an 80 percent charge in about 20 minutes.
