(NYSE: FDX) recently announced it will kick off a collaboration with Aurora – a leading autonomous technology developer – and PACCAR – one of the largest medium-and heavy-duty vehicle manufacturers in the world – to test Aurora’s autonomous driving technology in PACCAR state-of-the-art Autonomous Vehicle Platform (AVP) equipped trucks within FedEx linehaul trucking operations.
In celebration of National Hispanic Heritage Month, FedEx Ground team member Alba Vivar shares her story about her family, career, and why giving back to her community is important.
Alba was born in Trenton, New Jersey, to parents who emigrated from Ecuador. Although her parents spoke no English, they worked hard in their new home to create a good life for Alba and her brother. “They have provided me with guidance, support, and all the resources I need so that I can be successful in life. My parents worked with their hands, so I did not have to,” Vivar said.
For as long as she can remember, Jalen Matthews has received regular blood transfusions to treat sickle cell disease—an inherited condition that limits her red blood cells from carrying enough oxygen throughout her body. Though the 24-year-old was diagnosed with the disease at birth, it was not until she suffered a stroke caused by a blood clot at age 11 that blood transfusions became a lifeline to managing her symptoms.

This is the ninth year of the Purple Eagle Program, which honors a St. Jude patient who is also the child of a FedEx team member.
When we hear the words “unsung heroes” we think about those special people who go about the business of saving lives and helping those in need with no thought for themselves. While many of these serve as first responders, medical personnel, and others on the front lines, there are also many sitting in the cube next to you, or in the office down the hall, or joining you on a computer screen during a virtual call.

Denis, 32, took the storm warnings seriously. A farmer, Denis also felt responsible for his grandmother’s 27 cows, herding them to a friend’s pasture in another village where they would be safe.

New Sortation Solution Enables Autonomous Package Processing And Improved Optimization

(NYSE: FDX), has recently implemented Berkshire Grey’s Robotic Product Sortation and Identification (RPSi) systems at its station in Queens, NY. Berkshire Grey, a developer of Intelligent Enterprise Robotics solutions, executed the RPSi systems to robotically sort the thousands of small packages that arrive daily in bulk into containers bound for other specific hubs and stations across the FedEx Ground network.
As doctors and nurses on the frontlines work to treat those affected by the deadly earthquake in Haiti, FedEx is working with multiple humanitarian agencies to deliver aid where it’s needed most. Through a collaboration with non-profit organization Direct Relief, FedEx transported via charter aircraft $8million worth of prescription medications, IV solutions, emergency medical backpacks, and other supplies into the disaster zone in Haiti.
