For 12 years, the top Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCU) marching bands have participated in this music performance program, which begins with a month-long voting process where fans help determine which eight bands will make it to the Invitational Showcase, held at the Georgia Dome in Atlanta, on January 25, 2014. Since the program’s inception in 2003, more than $2 million in scholarships have been awarded to HBCU music programs nationwide.

At this year’s Magic City Classic in Birmingham, Alabama, Toyota announced plans to donate 22 Prius cars to select HBCUs in the Southwestern Atlantic and CIAA conferences. School administrators will be granted one-year leases to the vehicles as part of the Toyota Green Initiative (TGI) program which aims to help students at historically black colleges and universities to live more sustainably.
