In our state, cancer is the leading cause of death for Texans age 85 and younger. It is also the leading cause of death from disease among Texas children.
According to the National Cancer Institute, at some point in their lives, nearly 40 percent of Americans will hear the words, “You have cancer.” And this year alone, nearly 1.7 million U.S. residents are expected to be diagnosed with the disease. The number is likely to rise as the baby boomer population ages.
The Huck Cancer Ultimate Frisbee Tournament is a one-day, coed hat tournament and fundraiser for LIVESTRONG held every spring in San Francisco. This year the tournament takes place on March 26, 2016 at Beach Chalet Fields in Golden Gate Park. Adult and youth Ultimate players from throughout the Bay Area come together to have fun and support an important cause. The creators of the event sat down with us and talked about the fun and unique event.

At 6pm tonight, March 8th, the city of Austin begins its annual 24 hours of giving – Amplify Austin. We have been a part of the Austin community for nearly 20 years and are so proud to help Austinites get access to the help they need to LIVESTRONG through and after cancer.
There are lots of reasons we love our hometown of Austin, Texas. The BBQ, the tacos, the natural pools and miles of trails… and the annual tradition of community-wide giving, Amplify Austin. For three years now, a spring day has been dedicated to the local nonprofits that make our beloved city what it is.
