Yesterday Bloomberg celebrated the tenth anniversary of the English PEN’s Writers in Translation program. We are proud to have supported the program from the beginning, helping to enable English PEN to translate hundreds of books from nearly 50 languages into English.
Bloomberg continues our commitment to inspiring the next generation as lead sponsor of the 2015 NYC Regional FIRST® Robotics Competition. The Javits Center roared with 66 international teams and their families including 13 talented Bloomberg-sponsored robotics teams and their mentors. Five Bloomberg teams made it through to the final round with one, the Griffins 1884 from London, coming out on top.

On Nov. 6, I attended the World Water Summit in London, an event hosted by The Economist for the purpose of bringing together representatives from the private sector, NGOs and governments to discuss challenges related to global water use.
I was proud to share with the attendees some of the work we’re doing at Monsanto to help farmers produce enough food to nourish a growing planet while also freezing the footprint of agriculture.
Around nine in ten current CEOs and future business leaders believe businesses should have a social purpose. But while 86% of current leaders think businesses are already putting this into practice, just a fifth of the younger generation agrees they are doing so – showing a clear gap between the views of today’s CEOs and the next generation.
