“This is the worst it has ever been,” said Gwendolyn Bernard, a lifelong resident of St. John the Baptist Parish in Louisiana. Her home, one of seemingly too many to count, suffered extensive damage due to Hurricane Ida’s intense winds and the unprecedented flooding it brought to the Parish. “It’s been a long difficult road.”

More than eight months after the category 4 storm battered Southeast Louisiana, the 67-year-old is still living out of a trailer in her front yard due to what she says is a lack of building supplies and reliable labor.

“Our assistance reflects MPC’s commitment to promote thriving communities and workforce development because it will help provide lessons for these children that could spark future interest in subjects and career fields they might never have explored.”

The Human Rights Campaign (HRC) has ranked MPC a “Best Place to Work” for LGBTQ+ equality for the third consecutive year. For 2022, MPC scored 100% on the HRC’s Corporate Equality Index (CEI) survey, which is the highest possible score. Companies earning the top score are recognized for their efforts to create inclusive workplaces for LGBTQ+ individuals.

The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) is in the process of reviewing regulations that have the potential to impact the petroleum terminal industry. The International Liquid Terminals Association (ILTA), the only trade association that exclusively focuses on the liquid terminal industry, thought it would be beneficial to provide a tour of a terminal to help EPA representatives. There was only one problem – the EPA was not traveling due to the ongoing pandemic.
