Late last year, CFED announced an exciting new venture in partnership with the MetLife Foundation, the Savings Innovation Learning Cluster (SILC). SILC will seek to foster the development and testing of innovative products and strategies that facilitate savings by low- and moderate-income (LMI) individuals and families. Through a learning cluster model, we will work with six organizations to develop, implement and evaluate their savings innovations and identify promising ideas that can then be further refined, replicated and brought to scale. Six organizations have been chosen to participate in the program.

Four senior housing organizations were recognized for their innovative approaches to affordable accommodations and care for the elderly with awards from the MetLife Foundation and Enterprise Community Partners.

Christian Church Homes (CCH) of Northern California, Mercy Housing Lakefront and Neighborhood Housing Services, REACH Community Development, and Presbyterian Senior Living (PSL) are the winners of the 2013 MetLife Foundation Awards for Excellence in Affordable Housing.

GE, MetLife and Union Bank to Invest $247 Million in Kansas Wind Farm

General Electric Co, Metlife Inc and Union Bank said they invested $247 million in a 201-megawatt(MW) wind farm in Kansas.

GE will provide 134 wind turbines to the Post Rock wind farm, commissioned by renewable energy and waste management investor NTR Plc.

The farm will sell power to Westar Energy, the largest electric utility in Kansas.
