Studies show that poor nutrition causes nearly half of all deaths among children under the age of five. In addition, according to the United Nation’s State of Food Insecurity 2020 (SOFI) report, around a third of children under five (191 million) are stunted or wasted – too short or too thin; another 38 million children are overweight.

Herbalife Nutrition is commemorating the first year of its Nutrition for Zero Hunger initiative and sharing the results in advance of World Food Day. Nutrition for Zero Hunger is a global program that is aligned with the second United Nation’s Sustainable Development Goal, which seeks to end hunger in all its forms by 2030 and to achieve food security and improved nutrition.

As a global leader in nutrition, Herbalife Nutrition is helping tackle the global challenges of hunger, food insecurity, and malnutrition through their Nutrition for Zero Hunger initiative. Herbalife Nutrition is working alongside organizations such as Feed the Children, The Hunger Project, Chinese Red Cross Foundation, National Hispanic Council on Aging, and Chrysalis – who are doing the work on the ground to help support access to nutritious foods while addressing systemic food insecurity, and malnutrition.
Herbalife Nutrition hosts a food drive to give back to those in need
Herbalife Nutrition employees at their Distribution Center hosted a food drive donating non-perishable food items for their “Labor Day of Love” initiative to support Mid-South Food Bank in Memphis. They were able to donate more 400 pounds of food to help those in need.
Since Herbalife Nutrition has been providing daily lunch to all of their essential workers the local employees decided to pay-it-forward and give back to those who need it most during these challenging times.

In addition, the pandemic will add as many as 132 million more people to the total number of the world’s hungry in 2020 alone. Solutions to these mounting challenges are critical, including the need to promote access and behaviors for sustainable healthy diets, needs for education about healthy foods, and addressing how to adapt global food systems to meet these needs.
