PT Freeport Indonesia Supports Indigenous Papuan Kamoro Arts Exhibit


January 14, 2022 - PT Freeport Indonesia joined with two cultural foundations to host an exhibition and sale of Kamoro Art in Jakarta, Indonesia in late October.

Proceeds for the art sale went directly to the artists and the Maramowe Weaiku Kamorowe Foundation, an organization dedicated to the preservation of Kamoro traditional art in Mimika Regency, Papua.

El Abra Provides Start-Up Funds and Training to 33 Small Businesses in Chile


Minera El Abra selected 33 businesses for the Fund Empréndete 2021, which will finance businesses or business ideas of people in the Antofagasta Region who have been trained with the DreamBuilder program.

This initiative, executed by the Development Corporation of the Province of El Loa, PROLOA, seeks to strengthen local economic development through training and the delivery of funds linked to entrepreneurship. The Fund is available in the communities of Calama, Tocopilla, María Elena, Quillagüa, Chiu Chui and Toconce.

PT Freeport Indonesia (PTFI) is providing COVID-19 vaccinations to its employees and their families in the company’s mining jobsite in the Mimika Regency in Papua.

The vaccination program was implemented in stages based on vaccine availability. Since June 2021, PTFI has facilitated vaccinations for over 63,000 employees, contractors, and the families of employees and contractors.

Freeport-McMoRan Helps Discover a New Frog Species in Papua


PT Freeport Indonesia (PT-FI), in partnership with The Indonesian Institute of Sciences (LIPI) and the South Australian Museum, discovered a new frog species in Mimika Regency, Papua, Indonesia.

The species, named Litoria lubisi, is a type of large green tree frog that is a member of the Litoria infratrenata family. The discovery of the new species was officially published in the international journal Zootaxa 4903(1):117-126.
