Last Sunday, I shared our "Call for Unity" and committed that Yum! Brands will invest more time, talent and resources to be a greater force for positive change and equality — for restaurant employees and in the communities where we operate alongside our franchisees. Open and honest conversations across our company and with our franchisees are making it clear that we must now take action to help break down the systemic issues of inequality and racism.
Over the years, Yum! has made big and small steps to advance our sustainability journey. Even now during this challenging time, our food donation program Harvest is reducing greenhouse gas emissions by keeping leftover food out of landfills. The surplus meals are being donated to food banks, soup kitchens and other nonprofits to feed people in communities around the world. Since 1992, the Harvest program has donated 190 million-plus lbs. of food. Happy Earth Day!
