From New York to Maui, California to Japan, the Action Team Captains are making great strides this year with all of their hard work, enthusiasm, and dedication to volunteerism.

Each year, Action Team Captains high schools around the world dedicate their time to serving their communities and inspiring others to do the same. From running successful food drives to visiting the elderly at local nursing homes, and working with their local Special Olympics teams Action Team Captains are constantly lending a helping hand to those in need.


Major League Baseball Players Award $165,250 in Grants to Volunteers of America Programs Nationwide Serving Those in Need

Denver, CO, June 11, 2014 /3BL Media/ – Major League baseball player LaTroy Hawkins of the Colorado Rockies presented $150,000 in grants from the Major League Baseball Players Trust to seven Volunteers of America programs that further the organization’s mission to strengthen communities and build better lives for those in need. More than $2.3 million has been provided by the Players Trust to 75 Volunteers of America programs since the first grants were presented by Major Leaguers in 2003.
