LA Galaxy Team Up With Surfrider Foundation to Host Beach Cleanup at Venice Beach, Calif.

AEG’s LA Galaxy recently teamed up with Surfrider Foundation to host a beach cleanup at Venice Beach, Calif. on Sunday, August 15. Together more than 150 LA Galaxy fans and Herbalife24 Triathlon LA participants, spent the day collecting more than 100 pounds of trash and 27 pounds of recyclable items.

According to the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN), at least 8 million tons of plastic end up in the ocean every year, making up 80 percent of all marine debris from surface waters to deep-sea sediments.

AEG’s LA Galaxy recently teamed up with TreePeople to plant trees in Watts, Los Angeles in celebration of Earth Month on Thursday, April 29.

Together, LA Galaxy staff and supporters spent the afternoon planting trees alongside LA Galaxy and MLS legend Cobi Jones and team mascot Cozmo. Volunteers planted trees in residential neighborhoods with the design of providing shade for residents and neighbors.

As part of AEG’s LA Galaxy Protect the Pitch sustainability program, more than 250 LA Galaxy fans, supporters and Herbalife24 Triathlon L.A. participants traveled to Venice Beach to partake in a beach cleanup with Surfrider Foundation, a global nonprofit organization whose mission is to protect and enjoy the world’s oceans and beaches, on Saturday, June 22. 

Over the course of the morning, LA Galaxy volunteers collected more than 157 pounds of trash, 32.5 pounds of recycling and more than 4,000 cigarette buds.

AEG’s ASCSC Community Foundation and the LA Galaxy Foundation hosted the 13th Annual Easter Egg Hunt and Earth Day Celebration earlier today at Dignity Health Sports Park Track & Field Stadium for more than 1,000 children and families in the surrounding communities of Carson, Calif. The event featured LA Galaxy Star Squad, LA Galaxy mascot Cozmo and the Easter Bunny, courtesy of the Southbay Pavilion Mall.

In addition to the Easter Egg Hunt, activities also included face painting, the Wildlife Learning Center Petting Zoo, photos with the Easter Bunny, Cozmo and more.

LA Galaxy Foundation Hosts Grand View Boulevard Elementary School Students as Part of Protect the Pitch Sustainability Program

AEG’s LA Galaxy Foundation recently hosted 40 students from Grand View Boulevard Elementary School in Los Angeles as part of its Protect the Pitch Field Trip Series at Dignity Health Sports Park on March 21, 2019.

The students were given a behind-the-scenes tour of the stadium including the locker room, press box and main field in addition to the Galaxy Garden, the stadium’s on-site garden and greenhouse which provides fresh produce for the venue. LA Galaxy staff instructed students how to plant cucumbers, onions and cilantro in pots which the students took home.
