Saying Maurice Lowery has a thirst for knowledge is a serious understatement.

“I’ve always told myself I’m going to learn more in a classroom than if I go home and watch the news,” he said.

The Charlotte, North Carolina, native and military veteran has chalked up thousands of classroom hours earning a bachelor’s degree, plus two associate degrees. And he’s currently working toward a master’s degree from James Madison University.

Parker, who is a Consumer Lending analyst in the Finance department at Regions, is happy to share with all of Birmingham, Alabama, the honor that his great-grandfather, Raymond Weeks, brought to the bank’s headquarters city in 1954.

Regions Bank associates recently challenged the Lakeshore Foundation wheelchair basketball team in a scrimmage game.

The final score? Well, let’s just say at least they had fun!

The Lakeshore Foundation, located in Birmingham, Alabama, is an internationally renowned organization. According to Amy Belcher, volunteer coordinator, the foundation serves more than 4,000 individuals annually through physical activity, sport, recreation, advocacy, policy and research.
