“It is the supreme art of the teacher to awaken joy in creative expression and knowledge.” – Albert Einstein.
Happy World Teachers’ Day! Today, and every day, we celebrate this critical and essential profession. Held annually on October 5th since 1994, World Teachers’ Day commemorates the anniversary of the adoption of the 1966 ILO/UNESCO Recommendation concerning the Status of Teachers. To the millions of teachers around the world who work tirelessly for the growth of future generations, we thank you!

August and September are traditionally back-to-school months, but this school year looks vastly different. Without nationwide rules and regulations for schools reopening (or not), there are many unanswered questions. When will virtual class start and end each day? What platforms will be used? What devices and technology are needed for successful teaching and learning? What resources will schools provide? Last-minute decisions and lack of agreement perpetuates frustration and confusion.
The FCA Foundation, the charitable arm of Fiat Chrysler Automobiles, has joined a coalition of Detroit’s leading businesses and philanthropic organizations that is investing $23 million in a program to bridge the digital divide for 51,000 Detroit students. The program, called Connected Futures, will place a computer tablet with high-speed LTE internet connectivity, along with technical support, into the hands of every Detroit Public Schools Community District (DPSCD) K-12 student.
Heading "Back to school" is not business as usual this year. While many schools are starting the school year 100% remote (for at least the first few weeks or months), others are taking a hybrid approach by offering some virtual learning days coupled with a few days a week of onsite/in-person learning.
