What a time to be a tech savvy millennial investor. A chaotic 2020 offered both investment pitfalls and rich opportunities. 2021 should trend toward a more “normal” environment, but disruptive companies, elevated volatility and information everywhere will continue to define the investment landscape. These three themes have millennials positioned to thrive - Disruption, Embracing Volatility, and Information Everywhere.

"The damage that the platforms ... can do to journalism and to news is pretty profound," said M. Scott Havens, Bloomberg Media's global head of digital, who spoke Wednesday.

He attributed altruistic motives to companies like Facebook and Snapchat, which have linked up with media companies to host their content and share some of the advertising revenue from it. "I think the platforms are trying to help us," he said. "I really do."

Sitting in the audience as teenage girls presented business recommendations about social sharing and streaming video, I realized that there has never been a more exciting time to be at the intersection of tech and media, and that I have a lot of catching up to do!
