On November 6 50,000+ runners will hit the streets of the five boroughs for the 2016 TCS New York City Marathon. Team LIVESTRONG will be taking to the streets of NYC in force. Here are five things they can look forward to as part of our team on 11/6:
The LIVESTRONG Challenge has been LIVESTRONG’s landmark event for two decades. To celebrate the twentieth anniversary of the event and make it the absolute best it can be, we want it to have a monumental impact on our mission; however, it can’t have that kind of impact without your help. That’s why we are making it easier than ever for you to support our programs and services by offering a matching gift opportunity!
In July Gyros Cycling Club hosted their 5th annual Velo4Yellow ride benefiting LIVESTRONG. This year’s charity ride had 415 riders and raised $10,000 to support LIVESTRONG cancer programs – bringing Velo4Yellow’s 5 year total to $30,000! Amazing. We caught up with Dave Brown from Velo4Yellow to hear more about this impactful community fundraising event.
The 2016 LIVESTRONG Challenge is coming up on October 16, 2016. Starting in downtown Austin, participants can ride 20, 45, 65, or 100 miles on routes through the Texas Hill Country, or head out for the 5k run/walk. Here are five things you don’t want to miss out on this 20th anniversary year:
Today is National Running Day. There are many reasons to celebrate running – exercise, health benefits and community. At LIVESTRONG we celebrate today to highlight why members of Team LIVESTRONG are running to raise money for our programs and services.
I love the LIVESTRONG mission because it supports ANY Cancer at ANY stage of the process. Three years ago, my dad was diagnosed with stage 4 small intestine cancer. He had a year-long fight which included multiple rounds of chemo, multiple surgeries and rehab. As of this month, my dad is two years cancer free!
We all have fears in life. Some people are scared of spiders, I have a crippling fear of heights. In spite of my fear, I am making it known publicly today, that I’m facing my fear of heights in honor of those fighting cancer.
I’m 3 months into my role as Chairman of LIVESTRONG, and I couldn’t be more fired up. The Board and the staff at LIVESTRONG put together a great 2016 plan focused on doing what we do well even better for more people. We’ll do by focusing in on 3 key areas:
LIVESTRONG Leaders are individuals that make a yearly significant commitment to those in their community affected by cancer by spreading the message of LIVESTRONG. They do this by fundraising, hosting events, bringing LIVESTRONG resources to their local hospitals and more.
