Tetra Pak needs to double recycling rates in order to hit a target of 40% of used beverage cartons being fully recycled by 2020, according to the packaging giant's latest sustainability report.
The report also explains that Tetra Pak will need to triple the number of recycled cartons, to about 100 billion a year, by the end of the decade.
This Sustainability Update reports on the progress we have made towards meeting this promise during 2013, and highlights the successes and the challenges on our journey to protect food, people and futures.

The world is growing. Increased travel, greater populations in urban areas, and higher demand for convenience products and packaging are putting an alarming strain on the world’s supply of scarce natural resources. Supplies of clean air and water are under pressure; and oil, natural gas, and minerals are expected to run out by the end of this century.1 We are playing a self-destructive game with the limits of our planet, and the time to change, innovate, and lead is now.
Making packaging products from renewable resources that can be re-grown or replenished, can help offset the environmental and economic strain on our natural resources. It's good for the planet and good for the bottom line.
