WSP USA Projects Recognized in America’s Transportation Awards Top 12

Of the firm’s projects selected for awards at the regional level, four are being considered for national honors.

NEW YORK, Oct. 28, 2020 /3BL Media/ WSP USA, a leading engineering and professional services consultancy, had 11 projects receive regional recognition by the America’s Transportation Awards. Four projects are among 12 finalists “credited with making travel across America safer, better, and more accessible to motorists, bicyclists and pedestrians alike.”

Planning for Transit in the New Normal Post-COVID-19

Transit agencies face uncertainties as they anticipate what services and investments make sense for the other side of recovery. Fortunately, planners have tools to help make informed decisions.

Transit was significantly impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic. As the economy was shut down and people were told to shelter at home, transit ridership dropped and fares and other sources of revenues declined, in some cases precipitously.

To the credit of dedicated transit workers who kept the systems operating throughout the pandemic, transit demonstrated that it could continue providing the public with a vital service, transporting essential workers and others to jobs, medical care, grocery stores and other destinations.

UN Releases Climate Action's Climate Playbook for the Fashion Industry

Guidebook identifies climate actions apparel manufacturers can take to promote global decarbonization; lists WSP USA as a recommended service provider.

In 2018, United Nations Climate Change (UNCC) drafted its Fashion Industry Charter for Climate Action (the Charter), which includes ambitious climate goals, such as net zero emissions within the fashion industry by 2050.

The Charter was drafted specifically for fashion industry stakeholders with initiatives and goals that will enable the fashion industry to take a leadership role in mitigating the worst impacts of climate change.

Assessing Climate Change Vulnerabilities on California Highways

WSP USA worked closely with Caltrans to develop a study assessing climate impacts on the State Highway System and is continuing this work by prioritizing assets for further study.

Raging wildfires currently devastating the West Coast are a grim reminder of one of the vulnerabilities in the region intensified by climate change; impacting daily life and highlighting uncertainties of the reliability of critical highway infrastructure in the region.

Helping the UN Guide Ecosystem Restoration Into the Mainstream

WSP USA is a key participant in the United Nations’ Decade on Ecosystem Restoration, a major global initiative to bring awareness to the fight against climate change.

When the United Nations General Assembly declared 2021–2030 as the Decade on Ecosystem Restoration, it did so with an objective of taking a leadership role to find nature-based solutions to restore vital ecosystems around the globe.
