June 10, 2020 /3BL Media/ - The Fifth Third Foundation contributed $10,000 to the United Way of Midland County to support relief efforts for those affected by the floods that devastated Midland, Michigan. Fifth Third Bank will also make a $2,000 donation.
The United Way of Benton & Franklin Counties (UWBF) in Washington state has a big mission: partner with individuals, businesses, and nonprofits “to address challenges that no one agency can solve alone, and provide the building blocks of opportunity—education, income and health—that every person needs to thrive.”
In the past two years, the nonprofit organization has helped improved the lives of more than 58,900 people.
March 5, 2020 /3BL Media/ - Freeport-McMoRan employees continued the tradition of giving back to the community by pledging more than $4 million in 2019, which raised a record-setting $11.1 million with the company match program for United Ways across the U.S.
Each year, Freeport-McMoRan partners with United Way to raise funds for health and human service agencies providing vital resources in the areas of education, financial wellness and health. Resources help ensure children have a quality education, families a stable income and individuals a healthy life.
UPS Canada employees continued to demonstrate the importance of social responsibility in 2019, contributing time and money to the communities they serve. For the 18th consecutive year, UPS Canada was presented with the ‘Thanks a Million’ award, continuing a 30 year relationship with the United Way in Canada and raising $1.1 million (CAD) toward United Way initiatives. This accomplishment was a combination of employee engagement and sponsored events, like the charity plane pulls hosted in Mississauga, Calgary and Hamilton.
The United Way’s strength in workplace giving comes more from a push than a pull. Meaning, senior leaders are either members of United Way boards or they take official roles in fundraising or advocating for causes to which they have personal connections. This creates a strong push in corporate cultures to conform to the decision-making modelled by senior leaders. On the other hand, the employee choice enabled by technology platforms is a pull mechanism. It offers employees a broad array of choices to which they can give whenever they want.
More than 40 volunteers from the Albertsons Community Team joined forces at the Company’s Innovation center to host the United Way's second annual Holiday Helper Event. The task? To fill care packages for families in need throughout the Boise area.
Fourteen companies, their employees and participating labor unions were recognized for combined team gifts, including corporate and employee contributions, of $1 million or more. At the $7 million or more level in team gifts were employees of Edward Jones.
General Mills investment will increase access to nutritious, culturally appropriate and affordable food in Mississauga
October 16, 2019 /3BL Media/ - Today, United Way Greater Toronto is announcing support to increase food security in Peel Region. Funded through a $1-million investment from General Mills, United Way will launch six Community Food System Grants in Mississauga and promote community education in a two-year food security initiative. This initiative is focused on going beyond the traditional food distribution model by connecting community agencies, residents and partners across the food system to increase access to food.
Nearly 3000 Whirlpool Corporation employees will join together in volunteer efforts across the globe as part of the company’s inaugural Global Community Day. The day of community service will take place September 16 – 30.
Stemming from the annual Community Day established in 2017 by the company’s Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) region, Whirlpool Corporation’s Global Community Day will activate employees in 15 countries, with volunteer efforts focused on creating more vibrant communities through health and wellness, safe and sustainable housing and enhancing education.
