In April 2015, I experienced some tenderness in my breast while lying in bed on my side. I did feel something, but had just had a normal mammogram in January. I assumed maybe I had gotten a knock in some house or farm work, but after a week it was still there. I got in quickly to see my OBGYN. That mammogram showed a growth and the subsequent biopsy revealed it to be malignant.

The LIVESTRONG at the YMCA program is nearly 10 years old – born in 2007. Feedback from individuals nationwide, revealed that there were limited exercise options for cancer survivors. Cancer, in some form or other, was impacting every community in the country and the YMCA had a desire to serve those most in need in virtually every community in the country.

To build a bicycle, groups encountered challenges, puzzles to solve, codes to decipher and secrets to unlock in order to acquire the parts - all with the realization that when a group works together, they accomplish a lot more.
