For the 11th consecutive year, Corporate Knights has named Enbridge to its list of the Best 50 Corporate Citizens in Canada.

Enbridge ranked 23rd on the list and fourth in the energy sector which includes companies such as Suncor, Talisman, Cenovus and TransCanada.

“Our inclusion on this list reaffirms that good Corporate Responsibility performance is not just about what we do, it’s about how we do it,” said Paul Hunt, Director Sustainability & CSR. “It’s about how the decisions we make and the practices we follow generate value for our communities and revenue for our economy. This recognition is really kudos to all our employees for integrating our Corporate Responsibility values into every aspect of their jobs, helping us to be among the corporate leaders in Canada.”

Ranking for the “Best 50” is based on a company’s publicly disclosed environmental, social and governance indicators. Among others, they include:

  • Energy productivity
  • Carbon productivity
  • Innovation capacity
  • Safety performance
  • Leadership diversity

To be eligible for the Corporate Knights list, companies must be headquartered in Canada or listed on the TSX with at least 2,000 employees and $2 billion in revenue.

The Best 50 has celebrated Canada’s corporate sustainability leaders since 2002, with a methodology that is globally recognized as a best practice for transparency and objectivity.

Corporate Knights is an independent Canadian-based media company. In addition to compiling its annual Best 50 Corporate Citizens in Canada list, the company publishes Corporate Knights, the world’s most widely circulated magazine about corporate social responsibility.
