Sponsor of Canadian Conflict Minerals Bill to Speak at Global Conflict Minerals Symposium

New Democrat Foreign Affairs Critic Paul Dewar, sponsor of the proposed Conflict Minerals Bill C-486, announced as a speaker at the Global Conflict Minerals Symposium.  The Bill, like that of the U.S. Dodd-Frank Section 1502, aims to make sure that Canadians can choose products that don’t fund armed conflict.

This event, presented by the Conflict Minerals Consortium coincides with the 1-year anniversary of the Dodd-Frank Section 1502 Conflict Minerals Final Rule.  

The invitation-only Symposium will convene a diverse cross-section of speakers including U.S. State Department, Tata Consulting Services Group, Resource Global, Biogen Idec, Elm Consulting, University of California, Schulth Roth & Zabel, Global Witness, European Union, U.S. Government Accountability Office, and more.

Participants will be provided with a forum to share their practical experience, insights, and vision for achieving conflict-free sourcing practices globally with the implementation of effective regulations.

Final speaker submissions are due by June 15, 2013.
