Giving back is part of JetBlue’s DNA and is core to our mission of inspiring humanity. At JetBlue our culture IS service. Many crewmembers have shared that opportunities to give back are important to their work/life balance. As such, in addition to the award-winning service we provide to our customers, we regularly try to find ways to work in our local communities by providing opportunities for service. In fact, our corporate responsibility initiatives have been cited as a key recruiting and retention tool for JetBlue.

Last week, our annual “JetBlue For Good” Dinner, hosted by our CEO and executive leadership, celebrated individual and team volunteer accomplishments over the past year. At this year’s dinner:

  • More than 400 crewmembers were in attendance and recognized for volunteer and community service.
  • Those in the room represented 100,000 hours of JetBlue’s overall 181,000+ volunteer hours logged in 2017.
  • These crewmembers make up just 1% of our total crewmembers, but have donated more than 55% of our company’s total volunteer hours.

We will also be giving out grants to causes that our crewmembers have supported over the past year. To date, in addition to our crewmembers volunteering their personal time, JetBlue has also donated more than $500,000 worth of in-kind donations to charities through our JetBlue For Good platform. For every 50 hours a crewmember volunteers, JetBlue donates two roundtrip flight to the non-profit organization of the crewmember’s choice. Some volunteers have racked up more than 500 hours for causes including Volunteer Firefighting, Fund for Animal Welfare and the Humane Society & SPCA, just to name a few.

JetBlue For Good is JetBlue’s platform for social impact and corporate responsibility. JetBlue For Good challenges the airline’s crewmembers to serve their communities through acts of volunteerism and recognizes crewmembers who embody the brand’s credo to Inspire Humanity. The platform aligns JetBlue’s corporate giving with crewmember’s personal passions. JetBlue For Good rewards JetBlue’s 22,000+ crewmembers for their community service both individually and on a team basis.
