The C.M. Rubin Platform Fostering Education for All

(3BL Media/Justmeans) — Across the world, 59 million children and 65 million adolescents are out of school, while more than 120 million children do not complete primary education. Behind these figures there are children and young people being denied not only a right, but opportunities—a fair chance to get a decent job, to escape poverty, to support their families and to develop their communities.

In September 2015, 193 countries signed up to support the UN’s 17 sustainable development goals (SDG’s) for our planet and all who live on it. They set the priorities for global development for the next 15 years—the challenge is daunting, many of those who remain out of school are the hardest to reach, living in countries that are held back by conflict, disaster and epidemics.

Hence, the promise to leave no one behind is the most difficult commitment of this social contract. It requires that we empower these vulnerable people. All countries, regardless of their national wealth, stand to gain from more and better education. According to a recent OECD report, providing every child with access to education and the skills needed to participate fully in society would boost GDP by an average 28 percent per year in lower-income countries and 16 percent per year in high-income countries for the next 80 years.

Yet, today’s students need 21st-century skills like critical thinking, problem solving, creativity, and digital literacy. Learners of all ages need to become familiar with new technologies and cope with rapidly changing workplaces. That’s why C.M. Rubin World was launched in 2010 to explore what kind of education would prepare students to succeed in a rapidly changing globalized world. Its award-winning series, “The Global Search for Education,” is highly regarded in the renaissance of 21st-century education; it occupies a widely-respected place in the pulse of key issues facing every nation, and the collective future of all children.

This platform connects current top thought leaders with a diverse global audience of parents, students and educators. It’s easy to use, fostering conversations concerning our future and the sustainable solutions needed to achieve them. C. M. Rubin has produced over 500 interviews and articles discussing an extensive array of topics under a singular vision: when it comes to the world of children, there is always more work to be done. The C.M. Rubin platform encourages innovation, which is a must to harness and create new partnerships.

Education is a right for everyone. It is a right for girls, just as it is for boys. It’s a priority because it is a basic human right and the foundation on which to build peace and drive sustainable development – two things that the world desperately needs right now.
