Initiative Featuring Sesame Street Muppets to Reach Families in Japan, Mexico, and Brazil
NEW YORK, February 20, 2019 /3BL Media/ – Sesame Workshop and MetLife Foundation announced a new phase of their successful “Dream, Save, Do: Financial Empowerment for Families” initiative. This expansion will reach both children and adults in Brazil, Mexico, and Japan. New broadcast and digital channel content will be developed to build awareness and influence audiences, including caregivers, on a national scale. High-touch community-level initiatives will engage lower-income communities through in-school programs and community activities where families spend time together.
On Friday, March 1, Whole Planet Foundation launches its Annual Prosperity Campaign to alleviate poverty around the globe for the world’s poorest people – mostly women – living in communities where Whole Foods Market sources products. This year’s campaign goal is to raise $4 million to increase the foundation’s current reach of 75 countries and 17 U.S. cities.

We are excited to announce our new partnership with Concern Worldwide in Burundi to support their Terintambwe program, which provides case management services to ultra-poor households so they have opportunities to become more self-sufficient and start small businesses.

As is usually the case with disruptive new technology, blockchain comes with a lot of hype. While its best-known application, bitcoin, divides opinion and makes banks and governments nervous, the technology may have great potential to advance social good.
To kick off 2019, the Whole Planet Foundation team would like to thank our network of microfinance organizations, the implementing partners who administer the microloans Whole Planet Foundation funds. These partners employ staff members who serve microcredit clients, sometimes traveling miles by foot or motorbike to reach some of the least-served entrepreneurs around the globe. Every quarter, we honor these staff members, or Field Officers, by asking our partner institutions to nominate exemplary candidates for the Whole Planet Foundation Field Officer Award.
