Celebrate World Oceans Day by conserving water!
Summary: 

Save water on World Oceans Day with this Green Guide Tip of the Week - turn off the faucet! Conserve this precious resource, water, as much as possible by shutting off the faucet when you brush your teeth, shave, even lather up. You can save gallons of water by doing so. One of my tips additionally is to plant native plants in your backyard or wherever you find an area to plant something. Make sure it's native which requires often a lot less water. Even Al Roker has a tip to conserving this precious resource. Hey Al! Turn off the faucet when you're brushing your teeth and you'll save gallons of water over a period of a year.

Reed Elsevier Environmental Challenge Winners Announced

Two projects bring water to communities in need
Summary: 

The Reed Elsevier Environmental Challenge aims to encourage innovative ideas that improve access to safe and sustainable water supply.

The winner of the $50,000 first prize, announced today, is Tagore-SenGupta Foundation. Their project involves installation of twelve community-level arsenic removal units in in Cambodia.
 
Second prize of $25,000 is awarded to Jenna Forsyth, whose project focuses on low-resource chlorine generation to address unsafe drinking water and poor sanitation in the Nyanza province of western Kenya.

Waste Management's Greenopolis is down in Gulf Shores, Alabama for Day 2 of Hangout Fest to benefit Alabama's tornado victims. It's just about to begin. Right behind Melissa McGinnis are the volunteers for the Greenopolis Drive including Shauna, Greenopolis volunteer extraordinaire. Shauna said it's about helping to relieve the suffering of tornado victims in Alabama. What's going on is that together, Hangout Fest attendees and volunteersmare going to recycle so much that they'll earn 1 million points throughout the whole festival, and when they reach that goal, Waste Management is going to donate 10,000 dollars to the fund. $10,000 for recycling at the Hangout Fest! To get this done, Greenopolis got the team to make it happen.
