While nonprofits are directly tackling social issues, the barriers to positive social change can be significant. Many corporations have found donating resources to be a strategic way to efficiently and effectively support more people in need.
Avista teamed up with the City of Spokane on December 2 to bring #GivingTuesday to our headquarters city. Localized for impact, the event launched the “12 Days of Giving,” with each day focused on a need and a sample of organizations that individuals and businesses can support to positively impact our community.

But with the help of the Christmas SPIRIT Foundation and FedEx, Trees for Troops delivers a bit of holiday cheer to our Armed Forces and their families in the form of free live Christmas trees. More than 17,000 military families will celebrate the holidays this year with trees from the program.
The old adage that charity begins at home came to life last Friday, when Major Leaguer Anthony Swarzak returned to the hospital of his birth with Action Team Captains to deliver gifts to those children unfortunate to be hospitalized during the holidays.
More than 30 Action Team Captains from Cypress Bay High School joined Swarzak in making some extra special deliveries at Chris Evert Children’s Hospital in Ft. Lauderdale.
