Learn more about the Time for Trees

Trees provide the very necessities of life itself. They clean our air, protect our drinking water, create healthy communities, and feed the human soul. But these life necessities are threatened around the globe.

To address this, we have launched an unprecedented undertaking: the Time for Trees initiative. Our goals through this initiative are to plant 100 million trees and inspire 5 million tree planters to help carry our mission forward — all by 2022, the 150th anniversary of Arbor Day and the 50th anniversary of the Arbor Day Foundation.

The 100 million trees will be planted in forests and communities throughout the U.S. and around the world. We will be restoring forests affected by wildfires and other natural disasters, distributing trees to those eager to plant in their own yards, and establishing better urban tree cover so all residents can enjoy the benefits. And along the way, we are working to inspire new tree planters of all ages to spread the positive impact even further.

Since the public launch of the initiative in March of this year, we have seen tremendous interest in the incredible potential of trees. Tree planting partners, corporate partners, and members alike are rallying together with us to create a whole new level of change.

If ever there was a time to plant trees, now is that time.

We are encouraged by the momentum the Time for Trees initiative has gained. Together, we are building a better tomorrow … through trees.
