Bard MBA to Host Live Podcast Addressing World Hunger and Poverty While Caring for the Earth
ANNANDALE-ON-HUDSON, N.Y., February 25, 2016 /3BL Media/ - The Bard MBA in Sustainability will host a live dial-in podcast discussion "Ending World Hunger and Poverty while Caring for the Earth" with Pierre Ferrari of Heifer International. Pierre will discuss Heifer's initiatives for addressing hunger and poverty while helping to reinforce and build local communities in the process. Listeners can dial in to the podcast at NOON EST, February 26th.
Pierre Ferrari was born in the Belgian Congo (today the Democratic Republic of Congo). Ferrari received a master’s degree in economics from The University of Cambridge and a Master's of Business Administration from Harvard Business School. He joined Heifer with more than 40 years of business experience at companies like Coca-Cola USA, CARE and the Small Enterprise Assistance Fund.
Heifer links communities and helps bring sustainable agriculture and commerce to areas with a long history of poverty. Our animals provide partners with both food and reliable income, as agricultural products such as milk, eggs and honey can be traded or sold at market. When many families gain this new sustainable income, it brings new opportunities for building schools, creating agricultural cooperatives, forming community savings and funding small businesses.
"The intersection of sustainable food, business, and international development is an area in which many of our students are interested. The Bard MBA in Sustainability prepares students for leadership positions—in both innovative start-ups and major corporations— with in-depth knowledge of business through the lens of sustainability. The curriculum provides grounding in core business competencies, with a focus throughout on the integrated bottom line: economics, environment, and social equity." Eban Goodstein, Director, Bard MBA in Sustainability
