Oxford, UK, November 18, 2013 /3BL Media/ Elsevier, a world-leading provider of scientific, technical and medical information products and solutions, is pleased to announce the launch of a new journal, Journal of Water Process Engineering (JWPE). This new, online-only journal is specifically geared towards researchers in the field water and chemical process engineering.

Issued four times a year, Journal of Water Process Engineering publishes high-quality research papers with significant scientific novelty and impact in all areas of water and wastewater process engineering.

The journal particularly welcomes research contributions involving environmental, economic and social sustainable technology for water treatment. Papers that describe new ideas for solving issues related to water quality and its availability are also welcome, as are those that present a transfer of techniques from other disciplines.

This new journal is needed to help disseminate novel discoveries in the area of water processing,” said Professor Nidal Hilal of the Centre for Water Advanced Technologies and Environmental Research in the UK and Editor-in-Chief of Desalination, who initiated the launch of Journal of Water Process Engineering, and remains closely involved with editorial guidance of the journal. “It compliments what is published in Desalination as it covers a wide range of topics relating to water and wastewater process engineering. It provides an invaluable source of information for water researchers and practitioners, including those active in utilities, consultants and engineers.

Dean Eastbury, Executive Publisher for Elsevier’s Chemical Engineering, Separation and Minerals journal portfolio said, “On a global scale, there is an urgent and increasing need for better provision of clean, drinking water. The lack of clean water is the direct cause of millions of deaths every year in poor countries, meanwhile in affluent countries water demand is continuously increasing. Thus, a focus on ways to produce clean drinking water is a high priority for international organizations, governments and research institutions. Finding cost effective solutions for water treatment problems is more important than ever; the scope of Journal of Water Process Engineering aims to address this need.”

Throughout 2014 papers published in Journal of Water Process Engineering will be made freely available online in ScienceDirect.
