March 9, 2013 /3BL Media/ - As the 2013 Men’s Final Four® approaches, NCAA® Official Corporate Partner LG Electronics USA is working with the Atlanta Local Organizing Committee to promote environmental sustainability, tipping off today with a local e-waste recycling drive.

LG has joined forces with the ALOC, Keep Atlanta Beautiful and Creative Recycling Systems for the e-waste drive, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. today at the Georgia Dome in the Silver Parking Lot. (Directions are available at www.gadome.com.) The event provides residents a convenient and responsible way to dispose of used, unwanted, obsolete or damaged electronics, said Wayne Park, president and CEO, LG Electronics USA.

“After recycling their old electronics, consumers can save energy by replacing them with ENERGY STAR® qualified products,” Park said, encouraging consumers to join LG in taking the “Change the World, Start with ENERGY STAR” pledge and save energy by recycling old products.

Electronic items such as computer components (hard drives, monitors, scanners, keyboards, etc.), home electronics (TVs, radios, CD and DVD players, etc.) and small home and office appliances are all acceptable materials for electronic recycling. (Large appliances, such as refrigerators or washing machines, as well as radioactive or biohazardous waste are not permitted.)  For more information about items eligible for recycling, consumers can contact Creative Recycling Systems at 855-542-9253.

Today’s event builds on LG’s leadership in responsible electronics recycling, which includes the company’s pledge to achieve Gold status under the EPA’s new Sustainable Materials Management Electronics Challenge. LG is committed to using certified third-party recyclers, increasing the total amount of used electronics collected for reuse and recycling, and publicly posting information and data.
