Leonardo Academy President Speaks at International Construction Week Conference in Malaysia

(3BL Media) Madison, WI - March 5, 2012 - Leonardo Academy President and founder, Michael Arny, was recently invited to speak at the International Construction Week (ICW) 2012 held from February 14 to 16 in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. 

The annual conference, hosted by the Malaysian government and the Construction Industry Board of Malaysia, brings together leaders and key players in the global construction industry to showcase the latest in construction products and services, construction mechanization and automation, and Green Technology. A significant focus of this event was also to endorse minimization of energy consumption while enhancing sustainable development within the industry.

Drawing on his experience as an expert on energy, environmental and sustainability issues for more than 30 years, Arny presented on strategies to reduce carbon emissions from buildings and facilitated a panel discussion addressing the impacts of “Green Buildings” in increasing social, economic and environmental sustainability. Other panelists included government leaders and representatives from the United Nations Development Program (UNDP).

Arny has been engaged in Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED®) since 1998. He served on the U.S. Green Building Council’s LEED Steering Committee from 2001 to 2005, guiding the development of the LEED program, and was the Chair of the U.S. Green Building Council’s LEED for Existing Buildings (EB) Committee from 2001 through 2005, guiding this committee’s work on the development of LEED‐EB. He is known as the “Father of LEED‐EB” because of the broad role he played in its development.
