PT Freeport Indonesia, a Freeport-McMoRan Company, is Awarded as the Company with the Best HIV/AIDS Program in the Workplace in Indonesia

January 9, 2013 /3BL Media/ - PT Freeport Indonesia (PTFI) has been awarded “the Best of the Best” Award for their HIV/AIDS Program in the workplace. The award was presented by the Indonesian Government during a ceremony commemorating World AIDS Day in Jakarta, Indonesia, on December 11, 2012.

PTFI is awarded “The Best of the Best” out of 55 contenders with similar HIV/AIDS programs in the workplace and the Government of Indonesia rated PTFI’s program as the most effective nationwide.

PTFI has been executing the program through its Public Health and Malaria Control program since 2004.

The program has many areas of focus which includes

·       Educational and training sessions for employees and their families

·       Prevention campaigns

·       An anti-discrimination policy towards infected patients

·       Standard Operating Procedures in examinations, diagnosis and prevention of sexual transmitted diseases

·       Cooperation with the Indonesian Government in tackling HIV/AIDS in the workplace

In addition to the program for employees, PTFI through its Public Health and Malaria Control Community Division is running HIV/AIDS programs for the community living in the areas surrounding its areas of operation.
