ALEXANDRIA, Va., April 18, 2013 /3BL Media/ -- Today, United Way Worldwide, the country's largest privately funded nonprofit, presented Deloitte LLP with the Special Recognition Fleur de Lis Award for the most Tocqueville Society Members (individuals giving $10,000 or more annually) nationwide in a single organization. This is the 11th consecutive year Deloitte has won this esteemed national award.

"Once again, Deloitte has demonstrated outstanding leadership focused on sustainable social impact," said Brian Gallagher, United Way Worldwide president and CEO. "The organization is one of United Way's most committed supporters, leveraging its resources and talent through skilled volunteering, pro bono work, thought leadership and a shared emphasis on education, especially in creating a 'college-going' culture."

Deloitte raised more than $21 million through its annual campaign in 2012, which included nearly 900 Tocqueville members. "At Deloitte, we strive to make an impact every day in the communities where we work and live. Our people are what make this a reality. Collaboration with United Way is an important part of our service including pro bono, volunteerism, and giving," said Joe Echevarria, CEO, Deloitte LLP. "We are honored to receive the Fleur de Lis award again this year and thank our Tocqueville givers for their on-going generosity."

Deloitte provides millions of dollars in pro bono services for local United Ways, plus 25 Deloitte professionals currently serve on United Way boards. Deloitte also promotes impact volunteering by engaging young people from top-tier schools to work side-by-side with their professionals during United Way Alternative Spring Break, which the organization sponsors and uses to recruit new talent. Further, Deloitte collaborates with United Way in nearly every community in America, and member firms of Deloitte Touche Tohmatsu Limited participate as well in India, Poland, Peru, Korea, Panama, Hungary, Taiwan and Colombia.
