Every year, more than 40,000 artists, innovators, and entrepreneurs gather at SXSW to explore what’s next. For Booz Allen’s team on the ground, one promising theme at SXSW 2019 was the future of government.
Highlights follow from Booz Allen’s top five SXSW takeaways.
Protégé DarkBlade Systems Corporation and mentor Booz Allen were among 10 teams recognized with the prestigious 2018 Nunn-Perry Award.
Named in honor of former Senator Sam Nunn and former Secretary of Defense William Perry, the award recognizes outstanding Mentor-Protégé teams formed under the auspices of the Department of Defense (DoD) Mentor-Protégé program, which partners small businesses with large companies.
On Earth Day and every day, implanted radio tags with satellite transponders track endangered species so conservationists can learn more about their habits and habitat. For sea creatures like whales and dolphins, this means studying the impact of threats including water pollution, noise pollution, and fishing nets.
However, such data-gathering is often easier said than done. The volume of the world’s oceans is a staggering 1.4 billion cubic kilometers. The current network of satellites is limited in terms of coverage and the speed of data transmission.
