For the holiday season, New York Cares runs a program called “Winter Wishes”, with the goal of providing holiday gifts to many disadvantaged NYC children and teens. The children and teenagers send in letters with their gift requests, and these are then sorted and handed out to volunteers.

To support this effort, 25 Addison employees volunteered to screen the letters, which entailed reading the letters and logging the gift requests. Requests were then passed on to other groups who have volunteered to buy, wrap and send the gifts. An in-office event was held at Addison, and, in total, we read and processed 986 letters in just over three hours.

This event, alongside our participation in the Winter Coat Drive, rounds out our successful Addison volunteering calendar for the year.

If you would like to know more about the program, or volunteer to donate a gift, you can do so here.
